The filler between the pieced top and the backing fabric.

The fabric you choose to have on the back of your quilt.

The fabric that is used to finish the edges of your quilt after it has been quilted. It can be fabric that matches your backing or can be fabric that matches one or a few of the fabrics used in the quilt top.

The pieced together quilt blocks that comprise the top of your quilt.

Pieced means that precisely cut pieces of fabric are sewn together to create a specific pattern or design for the top of the quilt. Each quilt is unique in this process. This is the opposite of what’s known as a “whole cloth” quilt. A whole cloth quilt has one continuous piece of fabric on the front that may or may not have a design printed on the fabric. Most quilts produced commercially and sold in big-box stores sell whole cloth quilts. Quilts are produced in-mass and not custom or unique.

A pantograph is a continuous line quilting pattern or design printed on a paper roll. It’s designed for use on longarm quilting machines to create a variety of designs in the quilting process.

It means that the same quilting design is repeatedly stitched from one side of the quilt to the other.

That answer can be as simple as $0.02 per square inch. Or, it can require a calculation to determine the cost. To get to the short answer, we need to know the measurements of the quilt top. Width x Length = Square Inches x $0.02. For example: If the width of the quilt is 80” and the length is 96” then 80 x 96 = 7,680 sq inches x .02 for a total of = $153.60 | But please be advised that the short answer is rarely the final answer, because there are lots of variables to this answer.

No, we only do pantograph quilting. The same pattern all over the quilt and we have a very large selection of designs from which to choose.

We stitch over the entire quilt making no changes to the pattern. Stitching around appliqué or embroidery is a custom quilting option that’s not offered by our service.

We do not offer quilting on tee shirt or other memory-type quilts as they can be quite a challenge if not prepared correctly. We can refer you to another member of Ozark Piecemakers Quilt Guild who specializes in tee-shirt quilts.

If the pattern you’re hoping for is not in our library then we are happy to order a specific pantograph pattern as long as it’s available in a format compatible to our Bernina longarm machine. Please provide the website and pantograph information and we will determine if it’s useable. The cost of the special pantograph will be added to the cost of the quilting project.

It depends on how many quilts are ahead of yours in our production line. Please contact us if you have a deadline that needs to meet and we will let you know if we can make that happen.

We can do rush orders, but there is an additional fee based on the deadline and the size of your quilt.

The batting is not included in the cost of the quilting, but can be provided at an additional charge.

Yes, we have batting available.

Currently we have 100% cotton, 80/20 cotton/polyester and 100% polyester.

Yes, have the choice of providing backing or we have backing available for purchase on this website.

The backing needs to be 10” wider and 10” longer than your quilt top.

Yes, but other fabrics can stretch making it difficult to work with. We charge an additional fee for working with non-cotton fabrics. Examples of fabrics that stretch include minky, flannel and cotton or Jersey knit.

You can purchase fabrics that are 108” wide for your backing, or if you prefer you can sew fabrics together.

Yes, but please be aware that we do charge for that service.

I believe this to be a personal preference. If you wash the fabrics before starting the quilt, you will want to wash all the fabrics for front and back.

Depending on the fabric you choose, 100% cotton can shrink up to 5%.

Yes, that is included in the cost of quilting.

The trimming can be returned to you with the quilt, or can be tossed depending on what you prefer.

Yes, we can do binding for an additional fee. The charge will depend on how you want the binding stitched down, and if the binding is prepared ready to apply or needs to be cut and sewn.

We can do both. Both will be sewn onto the quilt by machine, and then stitched down. There is an additional charge for this service.

Take the measurement of the quilt – top, bottom, and both sides and add together then add at least 36”. Example: Quilt measures 80” x 96” (80 + 96 + 80 + 96 + 36 = 388 inches).

We recommend that you correct this before sending to be quilted. We quilt it the way you send it to us, and wavy borders will likely cause the fabric to fold over when quilted. We do not attempt to correct errors. We quilt what’s sent to us.

No, we don’t fix your quilt. We quilt it the way you send it, that is why we recommend that you have carefully prepared the quilt by removing excess treads and correcting any issues then pressing the quilt to make sure it is ready for the quilter.

We have a Bernina Q-Matic 24, which is computerized.

We prefer to use Glide thread which is a polyester thread, but will use other compatible threads.

Specialty threads can be purchased for your project and cost of the thread would be added to the overall cost of the project.

Yes, for an additional charge. You will need to provide the fabric to be used for the label.
