Our Story

Learn our story.
Rut has been sewing for many years and has made several quilts on his own. We started talking about what we were going to do to stay “out of the recliner” so to speak, once we were both retired. In 2019, we started shopping for a longarm quilting machine and possibly doing some quilting for other people as well as ourselves. As of mid-2021, Rut has quilted over 300 charity quilts for Ozark Piecemakers Quilt Guild, the large quilt guild in Springfield, Mo. As with any new venture, there’s a learning curve with new equipment and longarm quilting requires practice. Rut takes great pride in the beautiful quilts coming off our longarm every day. We currently offer only edge-to-edge pantographs for customers and charity quilts. Our longarm quilting machine is a Bernina Q-Matic 24 with a wide range of quilting design patterns from which to choose.

Dee is Rut’s assistant and has been sewing since about the age of seven. Her mom taught her to sew on her treadle sewing machine. Dee has sewn her own clothes, made dolls and teddy bears, and many other kinds of things. Dee loves repurposing fabrics to create something new out of old things. Dee became interested in piecing quilts when a friend showed her the quilts she had made from repurposed square dance dresses. It was this inspiration that got Dee started and after her first quilting class, she was hooked! Little did she realize what a fun and challenging hobby piecing and quilting would be. Dee has only been doing this type of sewing since 2018, and considers herself a beginner in regard to all there is to learn about quilting, machine embroidery and machine appliqué. As retirement draws nearer, Dee looks forward to having more time for sewing and learning to operate our Bernina longarm quilting machine.

Our Specialty

Get your quilt top ready, choose your backing, batting and quilt pattern and then we’ll use our Bernina longarm to do the quilting work for you. We typically have a two to four-week turnaround, not including binding or shipping. If you have a time constraint please contact us prior to submitting a service request. We have priority service available for an additional $65. We charge a low, $0.02 per square inch no matter the quilting pattern you choose.

Please note our longarm service is not a replacement for the customized help you can get from your local brick and mortar-style quilt shop. If you have a complicated request, custom quilting needs, or are not sure how something will turn out then PLEASE seek out a local shop. If you live in an area that doesn’t have a local shop then we can refer you to other members in our quilt guild who do custom work. Our service is intended for standard needs that can be easily communicated via email and phone.

We look forward to quilting for you!
